Thamir Al-Shehri is a Senior Associate Researcher in the Energy Transitions and Electric Power Program at King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh since January 2018.
He focused on the use of technologies to facilitate better public policy and economic systems surrounding energy. He also works for 3Dit as a full stack developer and technology consultant since 2016.
3Dit is an Australia-based company. Al-Shehri taught in Australia at the Queensland University of Technology between 2013 and 2016 and earned a PhD. from the same institution specializing in intelligent energy management systems in residential buildings.
His entrepreneurial and industrial background has included working on award-winning projects such as the Burj Khalifa Building Management System in Dubai. Between 2013 and 2016, Al-Shehri was also CTO at Sha6er Education in Brisbane, Australia.
He started his professional career as a software engineer, working for Bond Communications between 2009 and 2010, and Etisalat Telecommunications from 2008 to 2009. Al-Shehri graduated from the University of Sciences with a BS in Computer Science and Information Systems. and technologies from Ajman, United Arab Emirates. , and a Masters of Information Technology in Software Engineering from the University of Tasmania, Hobart.
He recently helped produce a report on a KAPSARC analysis of data released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) showing Saudi Arabia reduced emissions by 15 million tonnes (2.7%) of dioxide of carbon in 2018, making it the fourth fastest drop. broadcasts in the G20 group of nations.
