The Center for Banking and Financial Law (CBFL) at the Law School of the National University of Singapore strives to be at the forefront of legal developments in banking and finance by providing ideas for improving the financial system to national, regional and global levels. . It aims to bring together a vibrant community to generate studies, policy recommendations and intellectual exchanges on the robustness, soundness and stability of the banking sector, capital markets and other financial services.

The Center is calling for applications from qualified candidates in the field of banking and financial law to conduct research and participate in the work of the Center.


  1. Permanent contract with NUS Law for one year.
  2. A remuneration package, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  3. Eligibility to apply for research and conference funding from the CBFL to support attendance at academic conferences and to conduct field research as appropriate.
  4. Allocation of a position within CBFL.


  1. Develop and pursue your own research program, including undertaking research projects on topics related to banking and / or financial law, for publication in appropriate journals, edited volumes, reputable blogs or other media appropriate online.
  2. Present your work in progress at CBFL research seminars with a view to refining them for publication.
  3. Assist in other CBFL research projects and initiatives, as assigned by CBFL management, including production of working papers and reports, contribution to substantive content of CBFL publications, assistance to CBFL events, manuscript management and basic editing.
  4. Attend and contribute to CBFL events.
  5. You must be in residence in Singapore for the duration of your appointment, subject to standard NUS conditions for annual leave.



The candidate must demonstrate good organizational skills, personal motivation, diligence, the ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail. A solid oral and written command of the English language is essential as well as evidence of an ability to independently produce publishable research.

The academic qualifications required are as follows:

Research associate

A research associate position may be offered to a candidate with an LLM (Hons) and at least two years of post-graduate experience.
