PS emphasizes a safe environment for children – FBC News

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong says it is important to make the school environment as safe as possible for children.

That’s when parents and guardians of students in Early Childhood Education through Grade 7 prepare to send their children off for face-to-face learning tomorrow.

This batch of students will be back in their classrooms after more than 10 months, as school holidays have been extended due to the pandemic.

Dr. Fong points out that children have a lower inherent risk of severe, symptomatic disease.

He adds that by creating a safe space for them to study, we will ensure that their future is also safe.

“If you add another layer on top where children are less likely to get infections because the people around them are protected by vaccination and they are less likely to become infectious because the people around them are all masked and if you allow children to adhere to hand sanitizing and they work in the classroom that has improved ventilation, that inherent risk that they have will reduce even more.

Education Minister Premila Kumar previously said the decision to resume face-to-face classes for ECE up to grade 7 was made as students in grades 8-13 have been doing well. installed in schools.

Kumar also said that parents of ECE students to 7th graders have asked for schools to be opened.

She added that this decision was taken after careful consideration, as well as with the authorization of the Ministry of Health.
