As part of a multi-year R&D project with Eavor Technologies Inc., the University of Calgary is seeking to fill several positions for research related to geothermal energy.

The University of Calgary is launching a multi-year R&D project with Eavor Technologies Inc. to enable a sea change in deep geothermal drilling performance and is looking to fill the following positions with scheduled start dates of May 1, 2021 or earlier.

Research associate in drilling operations, drilling performance optimization, data analysis, drilling modeling and control.
M.Sc. in Engineering required, industry experience and / or PhD. prefer.

Postdoctoral fellow in drilling mechanics, modeling of Bit-Rock interaction and dynamics and control of nonlinear systems.
A recent doctorate. in engineering required.

Three doctoral research assistants in:

  1. Modeling of the hydraulic percussion hammer
  2. Data-driven and physics-based model development
  3. Estimation techniques for digital matching
