Tropical Forest Remote Sensing Research Associate Position
The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking to hire a research associate working on remote sensing of vegetation structure dynamics in tropical forests. This position is an exciting and challenging opportunity that is ideally suited for someone interested in developing management-relevant applied science dealing with conservation and restoration decisions.
Responsibility
This position requires strong quantitative/data analysis skills to explore large-scale spatial and temporal trends in ecosystem function and structure in tropical forests. It will involve the compilation of multiple space-time satellite products and multiple airborne lidar datasets. He/she will have knowledge of the tropical forest ecosystem and have strong skills in quantitative analysis and data processing. He/she will also provide assistance with other ongoing projects including data collection, product management and literature review. He/she will work closely with the PI to ensure that the project work plan requirements are met.

Positions are available for a maximum of two years. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be aligned with the NUS salary scale. An annual bonus, based on performance, is also potentially available, in accordance with NUS policy.

Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Geography, Earth System Science, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field
- Excellent programming techniques
- Strong quantitative data analysis
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Some field experience, preferably in the tropics
- Previous experience publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals
