Associate Research Professor / Research Assistant Professor, Master of Science Program in Work and Organizational Psychology, Department of Applied Psychology

The University is seeking to hire a full-time professor position in Psychology at the rank of Research Associate Professor / Research Assistant Professor, effective January 1, 2022. Applicants must have an international reputation for interdisciplinary scholarships in one or more several of the following areas: (1) Research methods; (2) school psychology; (3) developmental psychology, (4) psychopathology; and (5) Psychological Assessment, and (6) Counseling Psychology. A strong interest in any of the following will be an advantage: (1) school / child / clinic assessment and counseling; (2) mental well-being in young people; (3) special education; and (4) developmental disabilities.

The nominee will join the Faculty of Social Sciences (https://www.ln.edu.hk/socsc/) and will be expected to assist in the development of the MSc program in Work and Organizational Psychology (MWOP) and the MSc in Applied Psychology Program (MAP), develop and teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, publish high quality research, apply for competitive external funding, engage in administrative tasks, provide leadership roles and mentoring, as well as participating in academic and professional activities.

General requirements

The successful candidate should have a doctorate in the relevant discipline from an accredited university, a distinguished record of publications in leading journals and scholarly achievements, and a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, a Record of training / school / clinical experience, proof of being a strong mentor and advisor to students, and experience in academic administration.

Applicants should demonstrate an international position and leadership role in the field in the areas of impactful research, publications and / or external grants. Previous experience in the administration and management of university programs is essential, demonstrate an ability to work with students, faculty and staff in a college environment, and qualification to practice as an educational / school / clinical psychologist is preferable. The appointee is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and service to the department, to the academic community, and to actively engage in quality research and publication.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Social benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, compulsory contingency fund, tips, entrance tickets and baggage allowance for the eligible person.

The appointment will normally be made on an initial three-year contract, subject to review and mutual agreement.
